The 2017 Consumer Electronic Show (CES), January 9-12, is over and generated 670 million search results – it is by far the most important annual CE (consumer electronics) event with hectares of displays, the equivalent of years of presentations, and some of the world’s best CE companies vie for the Best of CES awards.

Intel released its Compute Card, a 95 x 55 x 5mm computer in a credit card-sized package, at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. It is designed for digital signage, All-in-Ones, smart TVs, and appliances, offering full x86 modular computing capability to previously limited devices.

Qualcomm flexed its muscles at the Consumer Electronics Show – it makes many of the ARM chips inside smartphones and IoT devices and it wants a greater say in where these devices are heading.

Samsung’s press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show went for 1.5 hours so rather than inflict that on iTWire readers here are a few highlights.

Huawei’s vision for the smartphone of tomorrow was presented to the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. It is one where the phone could probably be smarter than the user.

Sennheiser has unveiled its 2017 range of AMBEO 3D binaural audio recording devices, new HD wireless headsets, Momentum in-ear buds, and a range of MKE 2 elements/HandMic/ClipMic microphones for action cameras, smartphones, and tablets.

Security company Norton (by Symantec) has previewed its move into high-performance Wi-Fi routers to provide complete security for connected homes at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show.

LG has unveiled a new range of Tone personal wearable speakers, headphones, and buds at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, with a surround sound model gaining the most attention.

LG has showcased a line-up of intelligent robots at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, including a home robot that doubles as a smart home gateway and intelligent home notification centre and advanced robots designed for use in airports and other public spaces.

LG wowed audiences at the Consumer Electronics Show with a new 77” W7 “Picture-on-wall” using its latest OLED panel that is just 2.57mm thin and mounts flat to any wall using micro-thin magnetic brackets. The effect is like looking out a window and it received the CES Best of Innovation award.

Hisense has used the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show to highlight its new 85” ULED smart TV – its next evolution for more affordable smart TVs. It also announced a Stan streaming client for its 2017 Australian and its earlier 2015 and 2016 TV line-up.

Samsung used the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show to introduce QLED, its take on premium screens designed to take on OLED’s high-end supremacy.

Sony used the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 to unveil its new Bravia OLED 4K TV and added 25 new LCD TVs, sound, Blu-ray, speakers, and headphones to its range.

Acer used the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show to release a 21” gaming notebook, a new 11” Chromebook, two performance notebooks, one expandable desktop, and three monitors including a very interesting curved, 30” monitor with eye tracking.

HP used the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show to show off its new Elitebook x360 convertible with a 16.5-hour battery life, a 34” All-in-one Envy computer, a ground-up redesign of its Sprout 3D computer, and a new OMEN x35, a 35” display aimed at gamers.

LG will be showing off its new 32”, 4K, HDR computer monitor at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January.
